McDonald's Salads Connected to Over 120 More Illnesses in
the U.S. U.S. health officials have reported an additional 123 cases of Cyclospora infections linked to
McDonald's salads. According to the CDC, the total number of illnesses from this outbreak is
now 286. So far, at least 11 of the sick individuals have been hospitalized. The Cyclospora parasite causes intestinal illness in someone who consumed contaminated food
or water. Symptoms can begin a week or more after consuming the parasite. The illness can last a few days to a few months and can be treated with antibiotics. The parasite has been reported in at least 15 states.
