You May Soon be Able to Shop on Snapchat Snapchat is experimenting with a new visual search feature called “Eagle.” The feature lets users take a photo of a product or its barcode and then directs them to Amazon. They will then have the option of purchasing said product. If Snapchat is able to work out an affiliate deal with Amazon that could represent a significant new revenue stream.
Snapchat has indicated several times recently that it is harboring a growing interest in visual search. The company engaged in talks to acquire machine vision startup Blippar earlier this year, but negotiations fell through.
