Suicide Rates In The U.S. Have Increased By 30%

According to a new report from the CDC, nearly 45,000 Americans died from suicide in 2016 and rates have risen in the last 20 years. Since 1999, suicide rates in the U.S. have increased by 30%. Most states saw major spikes and within certain demographic groups. BuzzFeed News reports that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Middle-aged Americans had the highest increase in suicide rates and also the greatest number of suicides.
