Anti-pigeon spikes placed on trees to prevent mess and disease

Residents of a market town have blasted council bosses for lining the trees with SPIKES to try and deter pigeons.

The plastic points have been fitted along the branches of trees on a busy shopping street in Stevenage, Herts., to "prevent mess and disease".

But locals think the "pigeon prevention method" is unnecessary and believe the spikes pose more of a threat than the pigeons themselves.
