Nine People Killed After Van Hits Crowd in Toronto

According to police, a driver ran a white rental van into a crowd on a sidewalk in Toronto Monday afternoon, killing nine people and injuring 16. Authorities say the driver is in custody and have not yet determined if it was a deliberate act. However, according to at least one witness, the driver of the van appeared to deliberately target victims in the rampage. Canada’s public safety minister, Ralph Goodale said in a statement, "The investigation is at a stage where no further information can be confirmed at this point. The police are conducting obviously their thorough investigation to determine what happened and why it happened, the motivations involved.”
