An Apple reseller in Malaysia was forced to cancel a clearance sale after thousands of people lined up to avail of the offers, including iPhones priced as low as $50.The store posted about the sale on its Facebook page, stating that a total of 177 devices would be sold at discounted prices, limited to one per customer. This information did not deter up to 11,000 people waiting outside the storefront, around the mall, and into the car park.Just before the store was due to open, the event was canceled. The store posted on its Facebook page stating: “Due to security reason [sic], we regret to inform you that the clearance sale will be put on hold until further notice.”In a further post, the retailer apologized and said they were “overwhelmed” by the numbers who turned up.
