Rats take over the streets of Paris as River Seine rises January 2018

A video that shows a group of rats on the streets of France has been viralized on social networks. And is that Paris has been suffering an invasion of rodents in recent days due to the strong flood of the Seine after heavy rains.

The invasion of rats has caused that some areas of the famous Louvre Museum are closed to move some works to a higher sector of Paris.

The animals have been forced out of the sewers to look for new hiding places due to the overflow of the Seine River.

But this is not the first video starred by rats that causes alarm among the French. On January 22, a video that showed rodents near a container went viral as a powder in the networks.

The images, recorded by a municipal cleaning employee next to the river Seine, near the Quai d'Orsay (headquarters of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs), spread on social networks and forced the authorities to give urgent explanations on this issue that has long worried the Parisians.

Councilor in charge of cleaning of the City of Paris, Mao Peninou, recognized that there is a large population of rats in the streets, because they have become "more resistant" to the disposal systems since there has been a "cultural change" in the citizens, who increasingly use public space.
