THARPARKAR: Two Hindu businessmen were shot and killed while resisting a robbery attempt at their shop in Mithi, Tharparkar on Friday.

According to the local police, the victims, identified as Dileep Kumar and Chandar Maheshwari, were brothers.

Robbers riding a bike struck at their shop in the grain market early Friday morning and tried to loot cash, according to a police official.

When the two brothers put up resistance, the robbers opened fire at them. As a result, they suffered fatal bullet wounds and died before they could be transported to a hospital for treatment.

The killings outraged the local traders, who shut their business and took to the street to protest against the incident.

A large number of people blocked almost all main roads of the city, disrupting vehicular movement on the roads. Police said they were making efforts to arrest the culprits.
