Artistic Director Xing Bang Fu presents a new and innovative interpretation of the beloved Holiday Classic in The Nutcracker Doll. Audiences will be transported through realms of adventure incorporating mesmerizing tableaus and colorful divertissements. Clara’s journey is one of exploration, spiritual growth, and burgeoning self-awareness. As she wakes from her dream, Clara comes to realize that while she now sees beauty everywhere and feels a greater sense of empowerment and serenity, nothing has changed outside of herself.
The Nutcracker Doll is also an exploration of the relationship between parent and child, and in particular the importance of playing the role of nurturer. As providers of emotional warmth and unconditional love, parents act as important guides and witnesses to a child’s growth as individuals. Through their acceptance and affirmation of their child’s feelings, experiences, and capacity for independent thought, parents are the most emphatic of supporters.
The audience is guided through the journey by Xing's characteristic and distinct style, with a choreographed fusion of dance styles ranging from the fluid forms of Asian movement to the flow and more traditional positions of contemporary and classical ballet. The Nutcracker Doll is a new take on a classic story that promises to be a transformative experience for all.
