Storm Herwart Brings Strong Winds and Heavy Rains to Vienna

Storm Herwart tore through central Europe on October 29 and October 30, causing severe flooding, power cuts and damage to homes and other structures. Several deaths were also reported.The storm affected parts of Germany, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic over the weekend, with wind speeds of up to 75 mph recorded at the North Sea on Sunday. Several cities reported states of emergency and five deaths have been recorded so far.In Vienna, the fire department responded to 350 calls reporting fallen trees, overturned billboards and broken roofs.
