Japan's "Ghost" Train Station

Welcome to the spookiest train station in Japan.

Built in 1936, the Doai Station looks abandoned — and it almost is. Located in one of the most mountainous areas of Japan, the Doai Station only has five trains stop there daily. It's a 15-minute hike from the ticket booth to the platform, where hopeful riders have to stand in the near dark waiting for their train.

Recently, the Doai Station has become more of a tourist attraction rather than a means of transportation. But for Westerners looking for an ineffective subway system, it might be easier just to go to New York.
