Jens Easy Meatball Calzones

My husband saw me editing this video and said, Tell them those are some of the best things on earth! :)\r
They are very easy to make and nothing really fancy, but my husband and boys love them.\r
If you need to make these gluten free, just use a gluten free pie crust and gluten free bread crumbs. I ually ate something different when I made these so I didnt use a GF crust. I often get questions about that :).\r

Jens Easy Meatball Calzones\r
\r
Double pie crust\r
Meatballs (see recipe below)\r
Pizza sauce (see recipe below)\r
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese\r
1 egg white mixed with 2 teaspoons water\r
\r
\r
Meatballs :\r
1 pound ground beef\r
1 egg\r
2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese\r
¼ cup bread crumbs\r
1 tsp. Italian seasoning\r
1 tsp. garlic powder\r
Dash of red pepper flakes, if desired\r
\r
Mix all ingredients together and form meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place in greased baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.\r
\r
Pizza sauce:\r
1-14 ounce can tomato sauce\r
1-2 tsp. Italian seasoning\r
1-2 tsp. garlic salt\r
Dash of red pepper flakes, if desired\r
\r
Mix all ingredients together. If desired, reserve 1/3 cup sauce for dipping.\r
\r
In a large skillet, add pizza sauce and meatballs. Cook on medium until sauce is heated. \r
\r
Spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray or oil. Lay each pie crust on cookie sheet. On half of each crust, spoon half of the meatball mixture and half of the cheese. Fold dough over the filling , forming a half circle. Seal the edges of both crusts. You can dip your finger in water, if necessary to seal them. Brush top with egg mixture.\r
\r
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Wait about 5 minutes before cutting. Cut each calzone into 3 wedges. Serve with additional pizza sauce, if desired. \r
