Aircraft Station numbers help to
locate components and reference
points for service, maintenance and
repair of aircraft.
Types:-
#1. Fuselage or
Body Stations
Fuselage or body stations help to locate
longitudinal points along the fuselage of an
aircraft by reference to a zero datum line
(usually at or near the forward portion of
fuselage). Station numbers forward of
datum line are negative (-) and aft of datum
line are positive (+)
#2. Wing
Stations
Wing stations help to locate points
on the wing of an aircraft,
measured right or left from the
center line of fuselage (known as
butt line)
#3. Component
Stations
Component stations help to locate
points on individual components
like aileron, wings, landing gear,
vertical stabilizer, etc. It uses
datum line, butt line as well as
water line.
