Displaced People in Mosul Camps Report Lack of Facilities Amid Extreme Temperatures

Footage published on July 23 by a network in Mosul, Iraq, is described as showing difficulties faced by internally displaced people (IDPs) in refugee camps as temperatures in Iraq reached more than 45 degree Celcius, or 113 degrees Fahrenheit.This report shows the facility at Hamam al-Alil. In it, displaced people describe the hardships they face during the high temperature, including a lack of food, water and electricity.The first man to speak says that they have had no electricity for several days and children are suffering due to the heat.The second woman speaking says that she was shot in her arm and that she can not move it. She says that the government has not done anything to help.The last man to speak says the Mosul people are suffering an ordeal. He criticized the government for not looking after them.The United Nations reported that 846,252 IDPs are verified as being currently displaced from Mosul and surrounding areas. 319,000 of IDPs live in camps around Mosul, the UN report said.
