In this video, a young woman asks Pujya Deepakbhai, who attains liberation? Her question is- We were born with some ego, we live with the same ego and in the when we die, we still carry the same ego with us. So, in reality, who attains liberation? Is it the ego or the soul? In reply to her question, Pujya Deepakbhai explains that Ego is not to be removed; egoism (ahankar) is to be removed. Ego means I - referred to as existence : 'I am' (astitva). To say 'I am', for what is your own Self (swaroop) is not egoism. All living beings are aware of their existence: 'I am' (astitva). However, they do not have the awareness of reality: 'what I am' (vastutva). Understand the real Self as the bondage is due to not knowing the real Self! Did you know, 'I am the body' is also an egoism. 'I am Mr. Chandulal' is also egoism (ahankar). And this is not the only egoism. The list is long like - 'I am engineer', 'I am his son' , 'I am her husband' . Thus, Pujya Deepakbhai says that freedom from any kind of wrong belief is known as liberation.
