New research finds pets in America are getting fatter

Your pug may have put on a few pounds and no, it is not your imagination. New research released by Banfield Pet Hospital, who operates over a 1,000 veterinary offices and hospitals across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, claims one-third of dogs and cats in the U.S. are obese. The report analyzes data from over three million pets visits from 2016 and shows a 169% increase in cat obesity from 10 years ago and a 158% increase amongst dogs. Overweight pets — and the many related conditions associated with those extra pounds — are critical issues that we strive to both educate pet owners on and address in partnership with our clients to ultimately help pets live their best life.
