A road sign in Long Island, New York, was reportedly vandalized Thursday to reflect a derogatory nickname President Trump has used for Hillary Clinton.
According to Newsday, a green sign on the Sagtikos Parkway that normally reads “Crooked Hill Rd” was changed to say “Crooked Hillary.”
While it is unknown what prompted the act, Trump recently referred to the term during a series of tweets complaining about being investigated for possibly obstructing justice in connection to the Russia probe.
After calling out Clinton’s family and the Democrats, Trump wrote, “Crooked H destroyed phones w/ hammer, 'bleached' emails, & had husband meet w/AG days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?”
A Transportation Department spokesperson has since commented on the sign situation, saying, “As soon as we were notified about the graffiti yesterday morning, it was removed. Defacing public signs is illegal.”
