00:00Hi, my name's Alyse.
00:06My name's Hannah.
00:07And today we're going to be trying acroyoga.
00:08Hey guys, my name's John.
00:09I'm Kaya.
00:10And we're acrobatic partners.
00:11I think of acroyoga as a form of yoga that is balancing two bodies.
00:19It can move just from balancing bodies into sharing each other's weight and counterbalancing
00:25and finding ground together.
00:28It's such a playful practice and it steps you out of your comfort zone.
00:34Let's do it.
00:35Yes.
00:36Okay.
00:37So we're going to start them off with a basic little fun exercise.
00:39It's called driver and car.
00:40Do you trust me?
00:41I trust you.
00:42That was a good way to like prepare us for what came next.
00:45And squat at the same time, right?
00:47Nice.
00:48And then you guys can come all the way back up.
00:50Next we moved on to putting more weight into it.
00:54Nice.
00:55Okay.
00:56So we're going to get into the next pose.
00:58This is called bird.
00:59I scoop, once again, bring her over and then I find my extension with my legs.
01:04It always felt like a little shaky initially.
01:07And then now extend your legs all the way up.
01:10Good.
01:11But then I felt like when we sort of got into the right position, it felt pretty secure.
01:15Yeah.
01:16When I was the base, I didn't realize that I...
01:18You were holding all of me?
01:19Yeah.
01:20I didn't realize that.
01:21Yeah.
01:22I'm impressed with myself.
01:23Yeah.
01:25This pose is called tie flying well.
01:28I liked that one a lot.
01:29I felt pretty like sturdy and comfortable just like lying back.
01:33I felt like you had a good grip of me.
01:35It felt like I was getting a stretch that I couldn't necessarily get if I was on the
01:38ground myself.
01:39Totally.
01:40There we go.
01:41We got one more pose for you guys.
01:44This one's called chair.
01:47Sit down into that.
01:48Good.
01:49And then I push the legs away from you and get your back on the ground.
01:51Good.
01:52Now push those legs and stack up those legs.
01:54You could kind of get a view of the other person.
01:56You're like, hey.
01:57Yeah.
01:58I've never seen you from that angle.
01:59That angle, yeah.
02:00Right there.
02:01Ah!
02:02And then let go of the ankles.
02:03Look at what we can do with our bodies.
02:04We can do a chair.
02:05A human chair.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Yeah.
02:08Who needs furniture?
02:09You don't need it.
02:10You've got a friend.
02:11A friend is a chair.
02:12A friend is a gym.
02:13So at the end, I did a sequence with Jonathan, and it was like an out of body experience.
02:18I have no idea what it looked like, but it felt like I was swimming in the air.
02:25I just let go of my fear of falling, because I knew that he was going to be there to catch
02:30me.
02:31The next thing, I'm flying in the air.
02:34Working with Jonathan was really amazing, and watching Jonathan and Kaya work together
02:39was super inspirational.
02:40They made it look so easy and effortless.
02:42It was super inspiring.
02:43I don't know exactly what we looked like, but we tried, and I feel like that's the first
02:54step.
02:55We gave it a shot.
02:56Yeah, you just go for it, and just trust that you can do it.
02:59You'll be surprised on what you can do.
