The mother of one of the men killed during the recent attack in Portland has written a letter to President Trump asking him to “take action.”

The mother of one of the men killed during the recent attack in Portland has written a letter to President Trump asking him to “take action,” reports CBS News.
The letter by Asha Deliverance, mother of 23-year-old stabbing victim Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, was written on Monday and posted by news outlets a day later.
It starts off with “Dear President Trump, I’m writing to you today, Memorial Day, to share my heart after losing my son. Taliesin died a hero, like many other Americans who have died defending freedom.”
She then writes, “Our family grieves, but we are proud that through his selfless action he, along with the other two men, has changed the world, when in the face of hate he did not hesitate to act with love.”
The letter continues, in part, “They fearlessly risked their lives for two young women who were threatened by an act of bigotry & terror…To ride the train home without being assaulted because of the color of your skin or your religious beliefs, is an inalienable right.”
It goes on to say, “You have said that you will be President for all Americans. So, I ask you Mr. President to take action at this time."
President Trump has spoken out against the attack in which two men were killed trying to defend a pair of young women--at least one of whom appeared to be Muslim--from a man who was said to be harassing them with hate speech, notes CNN.
The president tweeted on Monday, “The violent attacks in Portland on Friday are unacceptable. The victims were standing up to hate and intolerance. Our prayers are w/ them.”
However, a Washington Post report states that a representative of the victim’s family told the newspaper that “they were dismayed it took the president so long to speak out — and that the message came from Trump’s lesser-followed @POTUS account rather than @realDonaldTrump.”
The suspect, 35-year-old Jeremy Joseph Christian, faces multiple charges in the incident including murder.
