The last movie made Jason magic, and that's going to stick- Part 7 is all about the magic, with resurrections, nigh-invulnerable monsters, and heroes with superpowers... but unlike Part 6, The New Blood isn't drenching its slasher history in snark. Part 7 treats its franchise with reverence, but love for Friday movies isn't much of a salve against stunningly unlikable characters and editing that does more chopping than Jason does.
