More Americans suffer from stress, anxiety, and depression than ever before, according to a new NYU Langone Medical Center study. Nearly 8.3 million Americans face serious psychological distress, the health data concluded. "Based on our data, we estimate that millions of Americans have a level of emotional functioning that leads to lower quality of life and life expectancy," said lead researcher Judith Weissman concluded. The data was drawn from 35,000 households, including more than 200,000 Americans between the ages of 18-64.
