Brazil club signs goalkeeper convicted in girlfriend's death

Brazilian football star, Bruno Fernandes, was signed to a new team, despite being charged with murder. The Boa Esporte club signed Bruno to a two-year contract and unveiled him in a news conference this week. In 2010, Fernandes was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Eliza Samudio, and feeding her body to dogs. He was sentenced to 22 years in jail in 2013, but was released on appeal in February 2017 Sponsors for Boa Esporte withdrew their support in protest of Bruno's recruitment. When asked about his new contract, Bruno stated that he deserves a second chance.
