As republicans continue to debate how to repeal the affordable care act, the costs of the provision are still very real for many americans. Among these costs are taxes for individuals who do not enroll in a health insurance place. according to Redstate, the ACA took in over 3 billion dollars in these, quote "individual shared responsibility payments" in 2015. in 2017 these revenues could increase since the tax has increased by over 300 dollars since 2015. these unpopular responsibility payments may become unnecessary if republicans can repeal Obamacare. It's still unclear, however, how swiftly congress can move, even with a republican majority.
