The layout of Chhattisgarh resembles an ocean horse. The focal part of the state lies in the prolific upper bowl of the Mahanadi stream and its tributaries. The other principle streams are Hasdo (a tributary of Mahanadi), Rihand, Indravati, Jonk, Arpa and Shivnath. It is arranged in the east of Madhya Pradesh.
