Uber halts self-driving in California after DMV dispute

Uber removed its self-driving cars on California streets after state regulators threatened to revoke their registrations. Only several hours after Uber announced the service in San Francisco last week, the DMV said they would take legal action. The company's cars require a special permit for self-driving technology, according to state regulators. Uber claims that they don't require the permit, since the technology still depends on a human driver, despite being advertised as "self-driving."
