Super Mario Run sees more day one downloads than Pokémon Go

Nintendo’s Super Mario Run has beaten the record-breaking Pokémon Go in terms of day one downloads. According to Apptopia, Super Mario Run saw 2,850,000 downloads in its first 24 hours on the App Store, compared with 900,000 for Pokémon Go. App Annie suggests that Mario saw 3.5M downloads in the U.S. within the first 14 hours. There is agreement that Super Mario downloads in the first day were more impressive than those of Pokemon Go mainly due to the marketing efforts of both Nintendo and Apple. Unfortunately for Nintendo, Apptopia has found that about half of the game's 33,000 ratings are one-star ratings because there is a small amount of free play before having to pay for the full game.
