When people talk about the reasons for hating Barcelona, most of the time they come up with a clip from the infamous UCL knockout stage match between Barcelona & Chelsea back in 2009. The clips show a series of mistakes by the Norwegian referee Tom Henning Øvrebø going to Barcelona's favor. It was edited in such a way, that any person who didn't watch the game will think Chelsea were the only victim of the tie & Barca won the so-called 'Close' match due to referee's favour! But was it the entire scenario of that tie? This video will reveal the other side of the match.
UCL knockouts are two match ties & in the first match, Barcelona was denied by a clear penalty call, where Ashley Cole pulled down Henry in the D-box. In the first leg, a one on one situation was spoiled by a wrong offside call & Michael Ballack got away with a two-footed challenge. Later they won the match 1-0. The one goal lead was crucial for the famous(!) "Bus Park" tactics of Chelsea.
In the second leg, referee Tom Henning Øvrebø put a worse display of poor referring. Obviously, you have seen the hater's version, where every decision going against Chelsea. But they'll never say Barca had to survive around 30 minutes with a man short, thanks to a wrong red card decision against Eric Abidal. They won't say Pique was kicked in Kung fu style by Drogba & he got away with it. They won't say Barcelona also deserved a penalty due to handball in the D-box. Tom Henning Øvrebø retired after the match & some people also try to link this to support their propaganda. But the reality is both teams were the victims of that tie & obviously Barca had few other wrong decisions in the first leg. But some people will still deny it & we all know why.
