Airlines will see profits fall for the first time in six years in 2017, according to the International Air Transport Association. The transport association represents approximately 265 airlines, accounting for 83 percent of global air traffic. The association predicts the industry’s net profits will drop 16 percent to $29.8-billion next year, mainly due to rising oil prices. Net profit margins are expected to fall to an average of 4.1 percent next year from 5.1 percent this year.
