Amazon reveals plan for revolutionary grocery store in early 2017

Amazon has plans of opening a small-format grocery store in its hometown of Seattle in early 2017. The convenience store will be populated with artificial intelligence-powered technology that eliminates checkouts and cash registers. Upon entering the store, customers scan their phone to a kiosk and after they leave the store, Amazon charges their account for the items and sends a receipt. The move by Amazon shows that the online retailer wants to become more involved in the grocery business. Up until this point, Amazon has centered its grocery strategy around Amazon Fresh, a subscription service that promises quick food delivery for online orders.
