US tech giants are still failing to curb hate speech, EU says
  • 7 years ago
Facebook, Twitter, Google and Microsoft are not acting quickly enough to tackle hate speech, according to the European Commission, which has told the companies to get their act together. The European Commission called the tech companies to more aggressively police online hate speech. "If Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Microsoft want to convince me and the ministers that the non-legislative approach can work, they will have to act quickly and make a strong effort in the coming months," EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova said.
