Russia's communications regulator Roskomnadzor has ordered internet providers throughout the country to follow the proposed ban of LinkedIn. Internet companies in Russia are required to store data about Russian citizens on servers in the country. According to a court decision last week, the professional social network failed to store personal data on national servers. Starting Thursday, Russian citizens will no longer have public access to the website. "Roskomnadzor's action to block LinkedIn denies access to the millions of members we have in Russia and the companies that use LinkedIn to grow their businesses," LinkedIn's spokesperson said.
