Monday night marks the first debate between presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted between September 19 and 22 shows they are going into the face off with a nearly even playing field in terms of support.
In the category of likely voters, Clinton leads Trump by 2 points, but among those who are actually registered the candidates are tied 46 to 46.
While debates can often turn such numbers around, only 6% of registered voters believe Monday’s event will have a significant impact on their decision.
Nonetheless, people will be watching.
A whopping 74% of participants indicated they plan on tuning in to see Clinton and Trump make their cases for becoming the next president.
While each candidate will no doubt address their opponent’s shortcomings, the American public appears to already be keen on what those are.
For Clinton, honesty and trustworthiness emerged as being among her greatest downfalls. In Trump’s case, it’s largely a matter of just being "unqualified."
