Sam Van Aken, a Syracuse University art professor, has an ongoing project called Tree of 40 Fruit where he creates beautiful trees that can produce dozens of different varieties of fruits through grafting.

A Syracuse University art professor has been creating beautiful fruit trees that can each bear at least 40 different varieties of fruit.
Sam Van Aken, whose project is called "Tree of 40 Fruit," achieves this diversity through grafting where the budding branch of a fruit tree is attached to an exposed section of the one he is cultivating.
According to his website, each hybrid in the series “grows over forty different types of stone fruit including peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and almonds.”
They are also designed to be visually striking with varying shades of reds and pinks.
Van Aken has created at least 16 of these trees thus far.
