Don't pay too much attention to the 'ambient death metal' tagattached to Swedish band An Abstract Illusion, even if it's one they've chosen for themselves. It doesn't do them justice in the least. This is a band - a three piece, mind you - that is as much doom as it is death, as much post metal as it is ambient. So don't burden yourself with names and phrases. Instead, listen to the entire eleven and a half minute Illuminate The Path, the title track from their upcoming debut full length. If, somehow, you aren't full to bursting after that one, I'd be more than surprised.
Illuminate The Path is due out on July 27th. It was mixed and mastered by Aaron Smith (Jeff Loomis, Lorelei) at Envisage Audio, features artwork by Seempieces, and illustration & design by the legendary Travis Smith (Opeth, Katatonia, etc).
