A mother in Texas recently wrote a touching tribute about an officer who saved her young daughter from choking on a coin a year ago and the City of Rowlett shared the kind message on its Facebook page.
The man being honored is Officer Patrick Ray, or, as the mother calls him, the, “…amazing man in blue…”
The woman writes, “because of this man, i got to see my princess turn two! because of him, i didn't miss her 1st year of preschool with her twin brother! because of this officer, we had pink toys at Christmas, not just blue ones. because of this hero, i get to kiss and tell her 'goodnight' every night!”
The life-saving moment the mother talks about occurred on July 26, 2015.
Her daughter, Bexley, had swallowed a coin and couldn’t breathe.
Officer Ray responded to the call and said that when he first encountered the girl in distress, “I just saw these big blue eyes looking at me. It was almost like she was telling me, 'I know you're here to help me.'"
On the one-year-anniversary of the rescue, 2-year-old Bexley invited Officer Ray over for a tea party, notes the New York Daily News.
Though, based on the photo, he barely fit at the table, it appears the two had an absolutely wonderful time.
