Artist Natasha Marin has opened a new forum for the ongoing conversation regarding white privilege, discrimination, and finding balance, notes the Washington Post.
Her recently established website ‘Reparations’ allows people of color to post requests for goods and services that will improve their situations.
The intended providers are those enjoying the benefits centuries of Western societal structure has provided, or, in short, white people.
Thus far, many posts have involved career advice, resume help, and tutoring, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Since establishing the exchange platform, Marin has found herself pulled into the larger conversation concerning reparations for slavery, but she stresses that’s not what her site is about.
Said Marin, “It’s about reparations for things that happened earlier today, for yesterday, for last Thursday. This is for the present tense.”
At this time, the site is planned to continue operating through the end of the year, but Marin said due to a number of criticisms, she may shut it down early.
