Therapy For ADHD Is Best Before Drugs

Florida International University researches recently announced that children with ADHD fared much better as they grew older when they tried treating their ADHD with therapy first, before resorting to mediation. The study published by the Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology found that drugs were most effective when added as a second-line treatment. It emphasized the importance of only prescribing medication for children who truly need it, and even then proscribing dosages that are below those typically proscribed. Researchers said their findings, "suggest a reconsideration of the current practice of relying on medication as first-line and typically sole treatment for many ADHD children."
