Mansehra 30 May: Mourning the delay in transfer of power and funds to the grassroots level, local government representatives across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa observed May 30 as black day on Monday.

They PTI-led coalition government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held the much trumpeted Local Government elections in the province on May 30,2015. But contrary to the claims of PTI leadership, power could not be delegated to the elected representatives in true sense at lower level despite passing of one year.

The provincial government had been claiming that with the establishment of the local government, majority of the developmental funds would be utilized through the local councilors but on the other hand, the public representatives have been alleging the provincial government of creating hindrances in smooth functioning of the local government system.

Nazims, deputy nazims and councilors of district, tehsil, village and neighborhood councils protested outside the press club in Mardan. The protesters took out a rally and chanted slogans against the provincial government. Distric naimz Manshera Sardar Said ghulam led the protest rally.

They alleged that the government was not sincere in transferring power at the grassroots level. They said the neither transferred powers to the local government members nor released funds for developmental schemes.

The protesting councilors threatened that if the provincial government did not release funds to them, they would be forced to hold protest demonstration outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Peshawar.
