New features in Firefox 3.5

Probably the most significant development in Firefox 3.5 is the advent of private browsing, a feature already available with Google Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer 8. It is activated and deactivated from the Tools menu, or by using the control +shift +p shortcut. Private browsing allows you to surf the net calmly, knowing that none of the data from your session will be saved after you have finished.

Firefox 3.5's history and tools menus also provide additional features for protecting your private data. For example, you can choose to erase all data from the last couple of hours, or erase specific websites and information relating to those websites by opening your history, going to the relevant entry, right clicking, and choosing "forget about this site".

Video integration has also been improved in this version of Firefox. When you open certain videos, you'll able to right-click to display options that allow you to control, modify and save the video to your computer, among other options. This is done thanks the new HTML5 tag. If you're interested, the technology is further demonstrated at Dailymotion.

Another new feature is "recently closed windows", which you would use in the unfortunate event of accidentally closing a window full of tabs.

Firefox 3.5 is faster, available in 70 languages and boasts downloadable fonts and CSS improvements. It couldn't exactly be classed as a revolutionary new version, but is nonetheless an excellent and welcome update.
