Mark: Hi it’s Mark, Top Local Lead Generation and we’re here with Mr. John Nieuwenburg, the wise coach. We’re going to talk about coaching and how much it costs. So that is a thought or a question that many people have as they consider the possibility of starting with coaching and it’s a bit of a hurdle for some people. Is coaching worth it? And if you’re thinking about coaching as a cost it’s probably not going to be something you want to go ahead with. Let me suggest to you that if coaching is going to work, you have to think of it or you want to think of it as an investment, and of course the implication of that, is an investment produces a return. So why would you do coaching if it isn’t producing an improvement in your business and your life?

So the range to give you a sense of it; coaching goes anywhere from about $500 per month to about $5,000 per month. The only thing that really changes is the size of your business, so as the business gets bigger, the fee gets bigger but so is the return. So if you’re a business that does $250,000 and that’d be pretty typical for a professional services consultant, lawyer, accountant, coach, that kind of thing and you add 10% that’s 25 grand, and that’s nice but you know, if that’s all the value that gets created in the relationship, well then the fee has to be proportional to that. If on the other hand, the business does five million and you put on 10% by working together and that produces $500,000 in new business and the marginal rate, the additional profit, the incremental profit is of the five hundred, two, three, four hundred thousand of that is going to be new profit, well the fee for that is bigger but so is the return. And so any business owner I’ve ever worked with is happy to happy to pay that fee if they’re sure of getting the value in return. So think of coaching as an investment. Warren Buffett has a way of saying, “That’s great, that price is what you pay, value is what you get”, and when you’re thinking or evaluating a proposition of working with a coach, you’re focused on price and I’m focused on value. If we can both shift to thinking about value then the price takes care of itself. And in a way to make that happen or to take some of that risk away from you as the prospect thinking about coaching is that if we agree that we want to work together after our initial meeting, I’ll offer a guarantee if I think it’s possible for me to do so. So after four months coaching will have paid for itself at the very minimal otherwise I’m going to do it for free until it’s true. And so, why wouldn’t you then take on coaching if you knew that you were guaranteed of getting a result, getting a return on your investment. So that’s what I’d suggest to you.
