Railways launch online ‘clean my coach’ service. This service allows travellers to get their compartments cleaned by SMS, app or website. For any cleaning requirement in the coach, passengers have to send an SMS on a mobile number 5 8 8 8 8. Alternatively, passengers can use the android app or Web page www.cleanmycoach.com. Following this, a passenger’s request is immediately acknowledged via SMS.
Aadhaar Bill 2016 . The Lok Sabha passed the Aadhaar Bill 2016. This Bill will help in targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services provided by government. This bill will help curd corruption and make Indian economy cashless. The bill has been tagged as a money bill.
National Waterways Bill . Parliament has passed National Waterways Bill, 2015. According to this bill 106 additional inland waterways will be declared as the national waterways. There are currently 5 National Waterways in India. Declaring waterways as national waterways would boost movement of goods and passengers via rivers and expectedly reduce the transportation costs substantially. Inland waterways mainly comprise rivers, lakes, canals, creeks and backwaters. In these waterways goods can be transported with the flow of water. They are recognised as a fuel efficient, cost effective and environment friendly mode of transport.
India, Bangladesh sign USD 2 billion Line of Credit. India and Bangladesh have signed a new USD 2 billion credit agreement. The credit line would be used to finance development in the power sector, railways, road transportation, information and communication technology, shipping, health and technical education sectors. This line of credit would provided by Export Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) which is the Indian government's external lending arm. It is Exim Bank’s biggest ever credit facility to another country.
Balbir Singh Chauhan Appointed as chairman of Law Commission of India. Former Supreme Court Judge Balbir Singh Chauhan has been appointed as the Chairman of the 21st Law Commission of India. Law Commission of India is an executive body established by an order of the Government of India. The first commission was constituted in 1955 and since then the Commission is reconstituted every three years and is usually headed by a retired Supreme Court judge or former Chief Justice of a high court.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana . This scheme is for providing free LPG connections to Women from BPL Households. Under the scheme, Rs 8000 crore has been earmarked for providing five crore LPG connections to BPL households. The Scheme provides a financial support of Rs 1600 for each LPG connection to the BPL households. This will prevent women from cooking food on fossil fuel. Burning of fossile fule like coal is harmful for health of women and even for environment.
