A cliff collapsed just outside of Christchurch as a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the area on Sunday, February 14. Locals shared photos and videos on social media of dust clouds hanging around the cliffs at Taylors Mistake shortly after a section broke off and crashed into the sea.
The earthquake struck shortly after 1:00 p.m., causing shelves to collapse in homes, shops and libraries, and buildings to be evacuated. This video, taken from Sumner Beach directly following the quake, shows debris and dust falling from Scarborough Hill. Credit: Louisb nz
