Famed German inventor Artur Fischer died on January 27th at the age of 96; some of his best-known creations includes the drywall anchor and the Fischertechnik line of building kits for kids.

A prolific inventor whose creation can be found in many homes has died at the age of 96. 
Artur Fischer of Germany famously came up with the plastic drywall anchor around 58 years ago so that screws could be securely fastened into plaster; the small piece had side fins and ridges to keep it locked into place.
