DNA On Trumpet From World War II Shipwreck Could Reveal Identity of Owner

A trumpet found in the wreckage of the USS Houston could hold valuable information about one of the people on the ship when it sank.

In the early stages of the Second World War, the USS Houston was among the most celebrated ships, narrowly escaping demise and regarded as President Franklin Roosevelt’s preferred vessel.
Japanese forces were ultimately successful in destroying the ship, but relics, including a band member’s trumpet, remain.
According to the Washington Post, the instrument could hold valuable information about one of the people on the Houston at the time.
