Mandela's fellow inmates receive award for racial equality fight

Three men sentenced to life imprisonment on Robben Island alongside Nelson Mandela and a lawyer for their defence receive the Freedom of the City of London for their contribution to fighting apartheid. The Freedom of the City of London is believed to have begun in 1237 and pays tribute to a recipient's outstanding contribution to public life.
