A teenager named Noboru Aihara has a lackluster day-to-day high school life until one day a popular older classmate he respects named Shun Miyazaki introduces him to Momose, a pretty girl with a short hairstyle and the willful personality of a stray cat.
In order to quell rumors that have been circulating around school and repair his relationship with school "madonna" Tetsuko Kanbayashi, Shun compels Noboru and Momose to pretend to date each other for a while. Thus, the unlikely pair begin a relationship together based on a lie, eventually leading to feelings of confusion and unrequited love.
