Mexico: Federal Police May Investigate Use of Excessive Force

After Mexico’s National Human Rights Commission reported on Wednesday that the Federal Police used excessive force against protesters in two incidents in the state of Michoacan, the head of the FP Enrique Galindo said that he is open to an investigation of the allegations. Six people lost their lives in a January crackdown on a protest in Apatzingan and dozens more died in May in the nearby town of Tanhuato, where police are suspected of extra-judicial killings of suspected gang members. Galindo said he is also interested in knowing if excessive force was used or not. teleSUR
