Hello Friends,
Hope you all are having good time. Welcome to the first episode of ‘Ways2Cook’.
Today I am going to show you, how to prepare Tandoori Chicken in your home in a very simple way without compromising with the authentic taste of india.
Tandoori chicken also known as Sahi Murgh or Murgh Tandoor is a mouth watering delicious dish originated in Punjab way before the independence of India. This dish is not only popular in Asian countries like India, China, Malaysia but as well in the Middle East and in the western part of the world.
Tandoori Chicken is created by roasting the chicken with yoghurt and authenticated indian spices.
So let’s see how to prepare tandoori chicken. For this you need the following ingredients:
Chicken: 4 pieces
Curd: 1 Cup
Ginger Garlic Paste: 2 tb sp
Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder : 2 tb sp (depending upon taste)
Garam Masala: 1 tb sp
Tandoori Powder: 1 tb sp
Turmeric Powder: 1 tb sp
Big Cardamom: 3 tb sp
Oil: 1 tb sp
Salt: 1 tb sp (depending upon taste)
Lemon: 1 piece
Mango Powder: 1 tb sp
Grinded Corriander: 1 tb sp
Orange Colour: ½ tb sp
Coriander Leaves
Gram Flour: 2 tb sp
Azwain Seeds: 1and half tb sp
To start with, wash the chicken pieces thoroughly and drain off the water completely. I have already washed the chicken and have soaked it .
Create the notches in the chicken pieces so it can be marinated well from inside.
Once the notches are made into the chickens, take another bowl and put the chicken pieces. Add 2tb sp of Ginger Garlic paste, 1 cup of yoghurt (also known as curd), 1 tb sp of turmeric powder, 1 tb sp of Garam Masala, 1 tb sp of Grinded Whole Coriander, 2 tb sp of Kashmiri Red Chilli, 4 big Cardamoms but make sure to slit it from the middle, 1 tb sp of Tandoori Powder, 1 tb sp of Mango Powder, 1 tb sp of Salt, Half lemon, ½ tb sp of Orange colour and then mixt it well and keep it aside. This mixture works great to tenderize the chicken.
Next, we need to prepare a mixture of Gram Flour, Azwain seeds and Sunflower Oil. For that, take a pan and add the oil into it. Heat the oil slightly and add 2 tb sp of Gram Flour and Azwain seeds. Make sure that oil should not be too hot to burn the Gram Flour.
Once you start seeing the slight brownish colour of Gram Flour, remove the pan from the gas.
Add this Gram Flour and Azwain Seeds mixture to the marinated chicken which we had prepared initially. Add another 1 tb sp of Oil to this and mix it well. Keep this for another 30 mins.
Now it’s more than 30 mins we have left our marinated chicken, we will be going to cook in Oven. You can use cooker if you don’t have oven or tandoor.
Preheat the oven at 220c for atleast 15 mins. Prepare the baking tray with foil and grease it properly. Place the marinated chicken onto the baking tray. Make sure that the extra marinated mixture should be drip off into the bowl before putting the chicken on the tray.
Place the tray in the oven and bake it for 15 mins. After 15 mins, take out the tray and flip the chicken pieces. Once flipped add the oil to all the pieces and again bake it for 10 mins.
Take out the tray after 10 mins but do keep a watch to make sure the pieces are not overheated. Now the chicken tandoor is ready to be served with garnished coriander leaves, lemon and onions.
It’s fragrance is awesome and so is the taste. So friends, do try this recipe in your home and don’t forget to let me have your views.
