Ford recalls nearly half a million cars for fuel tank troubles
  • 8 years ago
Ford Motor Company has issued a recall covering approximately 450,000 passenger cars for a fuel leak that could turn into a fire risk.
The issue exists within the fuel system - specifically, the canister purge valve.
On the aforementioned Ford vehicles, this valve might function improperly, leading to changing fuel pressures inside the fuel tank itself.
Repeated pressure changes can cause the fuel tank to crack and leak, and leaking fuel is a massive fire risk.
The 451,865 vehicles covered under this recall were built at Ford's Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Sonora, Mexico, between July 21, 2008 and March 4, 2011.
