Universiteti Aleksandër Xhuvani në Elbasan për vitin e ri akademik , fakultetit të gjuhës shqipe do ti bashkangjisë edhe atë të studimit të gjuhës dhe kulturës rome. Ministria e arsimit ka miratuar hapjen e kësaj dege me kushtin e plotësit të kuotës prej 30 studentësh.Por nga qyteti i Elbasanit nuk pritet të ketë asnjë kandidat rrom pasi i vetmi nxënës i këtij komuniteti që ndjek shkollën e mesme është në klasën e 11-të.Dekani i fakulteti shkencave humane shpreson që kuota e nevojshme të plotësohet me kandidatë jo vetëm romë të ardhur nga qytete të tjera të vendit.
Kryetari i shoqatës rome në Elbasan duke pranuar se numri i fëmijëve të shkolluar është tepër i ulët shpreson që pregatitja e mësuesve ne kete dege të ndihmojë fëmijët të vazhdojnë edhe studimet e mesme dhe të larta.
Mësimi I gjuhës dhe kulturës rome në qytetit e Elbasanit bëhet vetëm në disa kurse të organmizuara në shoqata në ambjentet e shkollave publike .Komuniteti rom në qytetin e Elbasanit arrin deri në 5000 persona dhe vetëm 224 fëmijë ndjekin shkollën 9 vjecare , ndërsa nuk ka një statistikë të saktë për fëmijët që nuk janë ulur asnjëherë në bankat e shkollave.
